When people tell you pregnancy is both the longest and shortest experience of your life, they are not kidding around. We have been blown away by how crazy fast and yet how crazy slow time is moving. The weeks go fast, the days go slow maybe? NOT SURE, but either way it is WILD.

20 weeks in, 20 weeks left and WHOA. It's getting real, folks.

With this fun milestone upon us, we went a little over the top with a photoshoot to commemorate it. We regret nothing - the amount of Half Baked ice cream consumed nor the amount of air guitar we rocked. Ben & Jerry's and Bon Jovi really came through for us!

Fun Fact: Rachel was just talking to her mom about how having a peanut butter option would be the only thing that could make Half Baked better, and LO! She found some at Wal-Mart so she obviously bought both it and the OG.
Another Fun Fact: At Week 20, Baby is the size of a Beanie Baby

Here's the 20 Week Update outside of pictures:

  1. We don't find out the sex of the baby until this next week, and we are DYING to know, but so excited for our anatomy scan on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo AND the Tuesday before Mother's Day!)! Our doctor has been very pleased with the progression of the pregnancy so far, so we're looking forward to positive news on that front as well regarding baby's development! PS: We aren't announcing the gender until the weekend so we can celebrate as a family of three, but the wait will be worth it! We promise!

  2. Baby Newton is a mini-gymnast especially in the evenings and likes to hang out on the bottom right of Rach's belly. Ryan can even feel the movements and kicks now!

  3. The only pregnancy symptom Rach experiences regularly is fatigue. It almost has us a little scared that everything has been so smooth, because it's bound to catch up to us! Haha! But in earnest, we are incredibly grateful, since we know it can be so hard for women and their partners! Did you know a whopping 80% of women experience morning sickness?! It is wild we were in the 20% that doesn't!

  4. Ryan, on the other hand, has been experiencing sympathy pregnancy symptoms like nobody's business! Pregnancy Brain, heartburn, you name it! He's taking it like a champ!

  5. COVID-19 and quarantine/isolation protocols have definitely impacted the pregnancy journey in unexpected ways. We will highlight the good, the bad, and the ugly of pregnancy during a global pandemic in our next post!

  6. Nesting is REAL, and no part of the house is safe - including the yard and garage. As soon as we find out what we're having, the nursery will be the next project! YAY!

  7. We also decided to completely renovate our house in the midst of all this. Last weekend, Ryan scraped ceilings and painted. In the coming weeks we'll have central AC installed (FINALLY!), with new windows and exterior coming shortly after this summer. Are we gluttons for punishment or do we just like to combine big life changes? Who knows!

  8. Hammy, the dog, knows change is coming, but isn't sure how to respond. He does love all the extra attention he's getting during quarantine, though. Lots of walks and drives with mom! Poor guy - his life is about to be turned upside down like the rest of us!

  9. Cravings haven't really been a thing, but cheese and mushrooms always sound good. So, there's that.

  10. Did we mention we find out the gender in a few days?! WE ARE SERIOUSLY SO EXCITED! And have no preference either way. For some reason, Rach was leaning towards thinking it may be a boy, but now that we're getting closer, anything seems possible! Names are already picked out, so all we need now is confirmation of who baby is! TELL UUUUUUUUS!

What a whirlwind 20 weeks! We've had so much fun chronicling all that we're experiencing, and hope you're still enjoying following along! Cheers to the next 20 weeks!

All our love,

Ryan & Rachel (and baby, too!)
